Ransomware gangs are abusing VMWare ESXi exploits to encrypt virtual hard disks. At least one major ransomware gang is abusing vulnerabilities in the VMWare ESXi product to take over virtual machines deployed in enterprise environments and encrypt their virtual hard drives.
