Brazilian court gives Apple 90 days to allow sideloading on iOS
By Filipe Espósito via 9to5Mac
Brazilian court orders Apple to allow sideloading on iOS within 90 days, following similar antitrust actions in the EU.
The ruling follows an investigation by Brazil’s Cade after complaints from Mercado Libre, Match, and Epic Games, arguing Apple’s restrictions harm competition.
Apple plans to appeal, claiming sideloading will compromise privacy and security, but the court noted the company has already implemented similar changes elsewhere without major disruptions.

Sam Altman's World Network Unveils New Chat Feature to Connect Real Humans
By Margaux Nijkerk via CoinDesk
Sam Altman's World Network has launched World Chat, a new messaging feature within the World App that helps distinguish real humans from bots using World ID verification via iris scans.
Verified users' messages appear in blue chat bubbles with a World ID gem, while non-verified users have grey bubbles, similar to Apple's iMessage design.
Alongside World Chat, World Network is partnering with Alchemy, Bain Crypto Capital, Blockchain Capital, and Variant Fund to launch World Build, an incubator program aimed at fostering Mini App development.

Reddit's rule check feature will help users avoid breaking subreddit rules
By Mariella Moon via Engadget
Reddit is introducing a Rules Check feature that highlights potential rule violations in posts before submission, initially rolling out on iOS and Android.
A Post Recovery tool will notify users when their post is removed for rule violations and suggest alternative subreddits for reposting, while a new dropdown menu will recommend relevant communities.
Post Insights, designed for content performance tracking, provides data on views, upvotes, shares, and crossposts, helping users optimize engagement.
Big Tech is now slightly less silent on Trump's tariffs
By Jay Peters via The Verge
Big Tech remains largely silent on Trump’s tariffs, despite potential impacts on their businesses, with most companies declining to comment or providing generic responses.
Some retail and tech companies have responded: Walmart aims to keep prices low, Best Buy and Target warn of price hikes, and Gigabyte expects GPU component prices to rise. Meanwhile, Acer, Asus, LG, and Canon USA declined to comment.
The Trump administration granted a one-month exemption on automotive tariffs for Canada and Mexico, but broader tariff effects on tech products, including potential price increases for future Apple and Meta devices, remain uncertain.
Amazon's Palm Scanning Tech Is Coming To Hospitals: A Revolutionary Step For Healthcare
By Dr. Sai Balasubramanian via Forbes
Amazon partners with NYU Langone to deploy Amazon One, a contactless palm scanning technology, aiming to streamline patient check-ins and enhance identity management in healthcare.
Identity management is critical in healthcare due to security concerns, privacy risks, and identity theft, with Amazon One boasting 99.9999% accuracy using palm and vein imagery for secure biometric authentication.
Competition in healthcare identity solutions is growing, with companies like Clear, Apple, and Google innovating in biometric authentication, but Amazon’s palm scanning approach remains unique and could revolutionize hospital workflows.
