Amazon's Cloud Unit Builds Quantum Computing Chip Called Ocelot
By Matt Day via Bloomberg
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has developed its first quantum computing chip, named Ocelot, joining the race with Google and Microsoft, which recently unveiled their own quantum hardware.
Quantum computing has the potential to drive breakthroughs in health care and chemistry, though experts debate whether practical applications are still more than a decade away.
The announcement highlights a growing industry push to transition quantum computing from experimental research to solving real-world problems.

Elon Musk's Starlink Is Keeping Modern Slavery Compounds Online
By Matt Burgess via WIRED
Elon Muskβs Starlink is being used by organized crime groups in Southeast Asia to maintain internet access in human trafficking and scam compounds, enabling forced labor and online fraud operations.
Reports indicate that at least eight scam compounds near the Myanmar-Thailand border rely on Starlink, with mobile phone data showing over 40,000 connections from these locations in recent months, despite Starlink not being officially licensed in Myanmar.
SpaceX has not responded to multiple requests from law enforcement, human rights groups, and government officials to take action, even as international crackdowns have attempted to disrupt the criminal networks exploiting Starlink for fraud and modern slavery.

Nvidia's auto segment revenue surges to record high on demand for driver-assist tech
By Bernice Ooi via CNBC
Nvidia's automotive and robotics segment revenue surged 103% year-over-year to a record $570 million in Q4 FY25, with full-year revenue exceeding $1.69 billion.
The company sees driver-assist technology as a potential "billion-dollar" business, driven by the adoption of ADAS, autonomous vehicles, and robotics through its DRIVE platform.
Chinese EV makers, including BYD, Nio, and Zeekr, use Nvidia's driver-assist chips, contributing to long-term growth expectations in autonomous driving and robotics.

Meta For Education Brings Immersive VR Experiences To Any Classroom
By Ray Ravaglia via Forbes
Meta for Education is now widely available, providing immersive VR/MR learning experiences for classrooms through Meta Quest headsets, with a growing ecosystem of education-specific apps and management tools.
Early results from institutions like the University of Miami and Immerse show increased engagement and retention, with VR-driven courses significantly boosting student participationβlanguage learners, for example, increased their weekly study time from 15 to 225 minutes.
Meta emphasizes privacy and control, ensuring no student data is used for personalization, while giving educators tools to customize virtual environments and enhance focus, with reported engagement increases of 87% in beta programs.
The Painful Truth about AI & Robotics
By Adam Dorr via RethinkX
AI and robots will inevitably replace human labor across most industries, with labor costs plummeting as humanoid robots become cheaper and more efficient than people. While new jobs may emerge, AI will ultimately take those as well.
Common myths about AI and labor disruption are misleading, including the belief that AI wonβt replace uniquely human jobs, that human-robot collaboration will remain superior, or that the transition will happen graduallyβhistorical tech disruptions show it will be rapid and unavoidable.
Society must rethink economics and labor now, leveraging the brief transition period to ensure a smooth shift toward a future of abundance, rather than clinging to outdated job-based economies that could lead to stagnation, social unrest, or worse.
