W3C says Google's cookie climbdown 'undermines' a lot of work
By Richard Speed via The Register
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has expressed strong criticism of Google's decision to continue using third-party cookies, highlighting a reversal on years of collaborative efforts to eliminate them.
W3C's Hadley Beeman argues that this shift undermines extensive work with Chrome's Privacy Sandbox team, aimed at balancing privacy concerns with advertising needs without third-party cookies.
Despite the criticism, Google's reversal allows users to choose between using the Privacy Sandbox or traditional third-party cookies, raising concerns about the impact on user privacy and cross-browser collaboration on web standards.

Robots Are Coming, and They're on a Mission: Install Solar Panels
By Brad Plumer via The New York Times
AES Corporation has introduced Maximo, a groundbreaking robot designed to address labor shortages by installing solar panels more efficiently and cost-effectively, with initial deployment planned for California.
Automation is increasingly embraced by the solar industry to accelerate construction and reduce costs amid significant labor shortages and the urgent need to expand clean energy infrastructure.
While automation promises higher productivity and operational safety, it also raises concerns about the future of job creation in the renewable energy sector, especially regarding traditional labor roles.
Nvidia accelerates human robotics development
By Dean Takahashi via VentureBeatΒ
Nvidia has introduced a suite of advanced tools and services aimed at accelerating the development of humanoid robotics, including the new Nvidia NIM microservices and Osmo orchestration service for enhanced robot simulation and learning.
These offerings enable developers to drastically reduce the time and cost associated with training humanoid robots by using synthetic data and AI-powered workflows, showcased during the Siggraph conference in Denver.
Through the Nvidia Humanoid Robot Developer Program, developers gain early access to Nvidia's cutting-edge platforms and tools, collaborating with major industry players like Boston Dynamics to innovate and refine humanoid robotics technology.
