Google Search Bug: Not Indexing or Serving New Content
By Barry Schwartz via Search Engine Roundtableย
Google Search encountered a temporary indexing bug, affecting major sites like the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, CNN, and Forbes by not showing newly created content in search results.
The issue was swiftly addressed by Google, with updates posted on their Search Status Dashboard, confirming that normal indexing has resumed though some sites may still experience delayed indexing.
Despite the rapid resolution, there was a notable delay in the indexing of content, including an article from Search Engine Roundtable, which normally gets indexed within minutes but faced a longer wait time during the incident.

Biden bans US sales of Kaspersky software over Russia ties
By Alexandra Alper via Reuters
President Biden will announce the prohibition of sales of Kaspersky Lab's antivirus software in the U.S., citing its potential to compromise national security due to its close ties with the Russian government and its access to sensitive information on American systems.
The administration plans to add Kaspersky to a trade restriction list, effectively barring U.S. suppliers from conducting business with it, under broad powers designed to mitigate risks from "foreign adversary" nations.
This move is part of a broader effort to prevent Russian cyber threats, especially as the software is used by critical infrastructure providers and state and local governments in the U.S. The ban on sales will commence on September 29, allowing time for current users to transition to other products.
๐: Citing natsec concerns, U.S. bans Russian cyber firm @kaspersky from selling its products in the U.S. New sales end 7/20, software updates to existing customers end 9/29. First use of Trump-era authorities. Move could jolt many businesses. - Eric Geller (@ericgeller)
iOS 18 brings AirPods setup experience to third-party accessoriesย
By Filipe Espรณsito via 9to5Macย
iOS 18 introduces AccessorySetupKit, an API that extends the seamless AirPods setup experience to third-party accessories, allowing them to connect easily via a popup on iPhones and iPads.
This update enables third-party devices to automatically manage Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections without manual permission settings, and can also handle complex setups like PIN code confirmations.
The new feature, which is a significant boon for accessory manufacturers seeking deeper iOS integration, will be available with the iOS 18 release this fall; a developer beta is currently accessible.
