Waymo ditches the waitlist and opens up its robotaxis to everyone in San Franciscoย
By Andrew J. Hawkins via The Vergeย
Waymo has opened its robotaxi service to all San Francisco residents, eliminating the waitlist and allowing anyone to request a ride through their app.
This expansion comes amid heightened scrutiny of the driverless car industry, including recent crashes, complaints from city officials, and a software recall by Waymo.
The move aims to normalize autonomous vehicles and potentially turn Waymo's operation profitable, though challenges remain in meeting demand and competing with human-driven ride-hailing services.
๐: Trendy conventional wisdom is that Google lost its way and can't innovate anymore etc, but IMO getting a proper full self driving car system working at this scale is one of the most impressive technological achievements of our lifetimes - Tom Gara (@tomgara)
Google ditches continuous scroll in search results, brings back good old pagesย
By Stan Schroeder via Mashableย
Google is reverting from continuous scroll to pagination in search results, starting June 25 for desktop and in the coming months for mobile.
The change aims to serve results faster and address user satisfaction, as continuous scrolling didn't significantly improve the search experience.
The return to pagination may impact click-through rates for pages beyond the first, but Google claims it will benefit most users with quicker loading times.

By Filipe Espรณsito via 9to5Macย
US carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon have enabled RCS support for iPhone users running iOS 18 beta 2.
The new RCS toggle in iOS 18 allows iPhone users to send rich messages with audio, larger media files, and read receipts to Android users.
While RCS messages still appear in green bubbles, the feature is currently limited to select US carriers and requires updated carrier bundles in the iOS 18 beta.
