Google is rolling out Gemini's real-time AI video features
By Wes Davis via The Verge
Google has begun rolling out Gemini Live features that let the AI assistant “see” your phone screen and camera feed in real time, answering questions about what it observes.
These capabilities—first demoed as part of Project Astra—are now available to Google One AI Premium subscribers and include live help with tasks like choosing paint colors based on visual input.
The launch highlights Google's AI lead as rivals like Amazon Alexa Plus and Apple’s upgraded Siri remain in earlier stages or face delays.

Apple is exploring integrating cameras and visual AI features into future versions of the Apple Watch, signaling a move into the AI-powered wearable market.
The company is undergoing significant executive reshuffling, with leadership changes following internal struggles related to Siri and AI strategy.

Google says it may have accidentally deleted your Google Maps Timeline data
By Hadlee Simons via Android Authority
Google confirmed it accidentally deleted some users’ Maps Timeline data due to a technical issue, and has emailed affected users with restoration instructions.
Only users with encrypted backups enabled can restore their Timeline history; those without backups have permanently lost their data.
The incident follows Google’s recent shift from cloud-based to on-device storage for Timeline, a change that has already caused data issues for some users.
How a Japanese entrepreneur built Ethiopia's fastest-growing EV maker
By Damilare Dosunmu via Rest of World
Dodai, founded in 2022 by Japanese entrepreneur Yuma Sasaki, has become Ethiopia’s fastest-growing EV startup, selling 850 electric motorbikes in under a year and securing government backing for a 300-station battery swapping network.
By targeting businesses and delivery services, Dodai offers fixed-battery bikes with lithium-ion cells, outperforming cheaper competitors, and partners with local GPS providers to streamline registration and subsidize licensing, cornering the plated EV market.
Backed by $7M from Japanese investors and raising $10M more, Dodai plans to balance fixed and swapping models, betting on a “winner-takes-all” infrastructure strategy to solidify market leadership ahead of major Chinese entrants.
