OpenAI and Microsoft Tensions Are Reaching a Boiling Point

By Berber Jin via Wall Street Journal

  • Tensions are escalating between OpenAI and Microsoft, with growing disagreements over product strategy and control, despite Microsoft’s $13 billion investment in the startup.

  • Microsoft executives are increasingly frustrated by OpenAI's opaque decision-making and fast-paced releases, which sometimes conflict with Microsoft's corporate and product goals.

  • The situation is prompting Microsoft to ramp up internal AI efforts, including enhancing its own large language models, to reduce reliance on OpenAI.

We uncovered how Meta's AI app was full of accidental public posts that were really personal. It's now trying to fix that.

By Katie Notopoulos via Business Insider

  • Meta has added a new warning pop-up in its AI app to prevent users from accidentally sharing private chats to the public Discover feed, following reports of sensitive conversations being publicly posted.

  • The update comes after media coverage, including Business Insider, BBC, and The Washington Post, highlighted posts containing personal issues like child custody, legal advice, and even pocket-dial audio recordings.

  • The new prompt disables posting until reconfirmation, and the feed now shows mostly images—suggesting changes to reduce accidental text or audio oversharing, though Meta hasn’t officially commented on the changes.

For the first time, social media overtakes TV as Americans' top news source

Nieman Lab

  • Social media has surpassed TV as the leading news source for Americans, driven by a surge in consumption on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, especially among young and right-leaning users skeptical of mainstream media.

  • Global news consumption is fragmenting further: news video and podcasts are growing rapidly (especially in the U.S.), AI-driven formats are expanding across Asia and Africa, and digital subscriptions appear to be plateauing, with only 18–20% of users paying for news in most top markets.

  • News access and trust remain deeply unequal, with lower-income and less-educated users often lacking reliable verification tools, while AI, personalized apps, and creator-led formats reshape how news reaches diverse and polarized global audiences.

The Nissan Leaf is finally getting the makeover it deserves

By Andrew J. Hawkins via The Verge

  • Nissan’s 2026 Leaf returns as a sleek crossover SUV with up to 303 miles of estimated range, a 75kWh battery, and dual charge ports (CCS and Tesla’s NACS), ditching the outdated CHAdeMO system for broader fast-charging access.

  • The new Leaf debuts native Android integration, Plug and Charge support, and improved winter-readiness with a battery thermal management system, while offering up to four trims including a high-end Platinum Plus with 19-inch wheels and a 10-speaker Bose audio system.

  • Built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, the redesigned Leaf features enhanced aerodynamics (0.26 drag coefficient), Google-powered infotainment, and new safety tech like Secondary Collision Mitigation Braking, positioning it as a modern EV revamp aimed at reversing Nissan’s declining sales.

𝕏: Nissan has done a great job with its designed Leaf. It has Google built-in, a 75kWh battery, and up to 375 miles of range (WLTP). In the US it will even have dual charge ports (150kWh) with a standard CCS-compatible port and an additional NACS port - Tom Warren (@tomwarren)

Why Tech Leaders Must Embrace Integrated Threat Management To Respond To Overlapping Risks

By Patrick Esposito via Forbes

  • Integrated Threat Management (ITM) is the modern evolution of security convergence, enabling businesses to coordinate responses across physical, cyber, and operational domains to combat increasingly complex and overlapping threats.

  • To successfully implement ITM, organizations must eliminate silos, conduct integrated risk assessments, optimize notification systems, and adopt robust analytics and testing protocols—ensuring real-time, coordinated responses to threats.

  • The biggest barrier to ITM adoption is institutional inertia; leaders must overcome the “we’ve always done it this way” mindset and proactively prepare for fast-evolving, multipronged attacks that demand unified, enterprise-wide resilience.
