North Korean IT worker army expands operations in Europe
By Sergiu Gatlan via BleepingComputer
North Korean “IT warriors” are expanding beyond the U.S., using fake identities and remote freelance platforms like Upwork, Telegram, and Freelancer to secure IT roles across Germany, Portugal, and the UK, generating revenue for the DPRK regime.
These operatives use cryptocurrency and services like TransferWise and Payoneer to conceal payments and have infiltrated sectors including AI, blockchain, and defense, even extorting former employers using stolen company data.
In response, UK and U.S. authorities have issued sanctions and advisories, with the U.S. DOJ indicting multiple individuals and the State Department offering multimillion-dollar rewards to disrupt the DPRK’s global IT fraud operations.

How Meta's Upcoming $1,000+ Smart Glasses With a Screen Will Work
By Mark Gurman via Bloomberg
Meta is developing a premium version of its smart glasses, priced above $1,000, featuring a built-in screen and hand-gesture controls for interacting with photos and apps.
The company plans to launch its first screen-equipped glasses by the end of 2025, marking a strategic move toward competing with Apple’s iPhone and other mobile devices.
This initiative reflects Meta’s broader vision to establish smart glasses as a viable alternative to smartphones, advancing its efforts in augmented reality hardware.

When you might start speaking to robots
By James O'Donnell via MIT Technology Review
Google, following a broader industry shift, is integrating large language models into robotics, enabling robots to understand natural-language instructions—similar to efforts by OpenAI spinoff Covariant and Figure, which just announced plans to build 12,000 humanoid robots per year.
Despite the excitement, real-world deployment—especially in homes—is still years away due to the need for extensive safety testing and a lack of mature industry standards for robots working alongside people.
The most immediate impact will likely be in controlled environments like warehouses, hotels, and hospitals, where robots can operate under supervision or with remote human assistance.
Roblox will let parents block people on their child's friends list
By Jay Peters via The Verge
Roblox is rolling out new parental controls that allow parents to block and report specific people on their child’s friends list, with kids under 13 unable to unblock them without a request.
Parents can now also block access to specific games and experiences, rather than just by content maturity level, offering more granular control over what their children engage with.
A new dashboard feature lets parents view the top 20 experiences their children have spent the most time in over the past week, enhancing visibility into in-game activity.
