Sony is experimenting with AI-powered PlayStation characters
By Tom Warren via The Verge
Sony is developing an AI-powered prototype of Aloy from Horizon Forbidden West, capable of real-time voice interactions and facial movements, using technologies like OpenAI’s Whisper, GPT-4, and Sony’s Mockingbird for audio-to-face animation.
The demo, initially shown internally and later at the Sony Technology Exchange Fair in Tokyo, also explored running the AI tech directly on PS5 with minimal overhead.
The initiative comes amid industry concerns over AI’s impact on game development and voice acting, especially as major players like Nvidia and Microsoft advance similar AI-driven gaming technologies.

America Is Missing The New Labor Economy
By Dylan Patel via SemiAnalysis
China is leading the global robotics revolution, rapidly expanding its manufacturing capacity with advanced automation and robotics systems, while the U.S. risks falling behind due to supply chain dependencies, cost disadvantages, and insufficient national strategies.
China's manufacturing dominance is exemplified by companies like Unitree and DJI, leveraging fast iteration cycles, vertical integration, and state-backed subsidies to outpace Western competitors in robotics innovation and production.
The U.S. faces a critical call to action: without significant investment in domestic manufacturing, materials processing, and robotics development, it risks long-term industrial obsolescence as China advances toward general-purpose robotics and global market dominance.

Musk's X Experiences Intermittent Outages Across the Globe
By Charles Capel via Bloomberg
Elon Musk attributed widespread disruptions on his social media platform X to a "massive cyberattack" by a "large, coordinated group" or possibly a country.
Tens of thousands of users worldwide, including in the US, UK, France, and India, experienced intermittent outages, with new posts failing to load.
The disruptions, tracked by Downdetector, occurred in short bursts throughout the day on Monday.

Eric Schmidt Joins Relativity Space as C.E.O.
By Mike Isaac via The New York Times
Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO, has taken over as CEO of Relativity Space, a rocket start-up, after making a significant investment and acquiring a controlling stake.
Relativity Space aims to compete with SpaceX by developing more cost-effective, reusable rockets and has shifted focus from its failed Terran 1 to the larger Terran R, scheduled for a 2026 launch.
Despite financial challenges, the company holds $3 billion in future launch contracts and plans to bolster operations under Schmidt's leadership, leveraging his aerospace investments and experience.
