Microsoft Sharepoint ToolShell attacks linked to Chinese hackers
By Sergiu Gatlan via BleepingComputer
Chinese state-backed groups including Linen Typhoon, Violet Typhoon, and Storm-2603 exploited a Microsoft SharePoint zero-day chain known as ToolShell, breaching at least 54 global organizations, including governments and multinational firms.
The attacks leveraged vulnerabilities CVE-2025-49706, CVE-2025-49704, and newly designated CVE-2025-53770/53771, with proof-of-concept code published on GitHub, accelerating exploitation even on patched servers.
Microsoft, CISA, and cybersecurity firms like Mandiant and Check Point issued urgent alerts and mitigation guidance; CISA ordered federal agencies to patch immediately, warning that attackers can gain unauthenticated access to SharePoint file systems and internal configurations.

An advanced version of Google DeepMind’s Gemini with Deep Think achieved a gold-medal score at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), perfectly solving 5 out of 6 problems and earning 35 points.
Unlike previous systems that relied on formal languages and days of computation, Gemini Deep Think generated fully natural language proofs within the 4.5-hour limit, leveraging innovations like parallel reasoning and novel reinforcement learning techniques.
This milestone signals a leap in AI's capacity for rigorous mathematical reasoning, with DeepMind planning to expand access to Gemini Deep Think among mathematicians and researchers ahead of broader rollout to Google AI Ultra subscribers.

Telegram's crypto wallet launches in the US
By Amanda Silberling via TechCrunch
Telegram has launched its TON crypto wallet in the U.S., expanding access to its 87 million American users after regulatory delays.
The wallet is integrated directly into the Telegram app, aiming to simplify crypto onboarding for new users.
Globally, over 100 million users have activated the wallet since 2023, with the TON blockchain now processing around 334,000 transactions daily.
Google Seeks Licensing Talks With News Groups, Following AI Rivals
By Julia Love via Bloomberg
Google is approaching news organizations for a new AI-related licensing initiative, aiming to mend and strengthen its relationship with the media industry.
The company intends to launch a pilot program involving approximately 20 national news outlets, according to individuals familiar with the outreach.
The move follows similar efforts by AI competitors and highlights Google's increasing engagement with publishers as it develops AI products.
How Huawei ascended from telecoms to China's 'jack of all trades' AI leader
By Dylan Butts via CNBC
Huawei has emerged as China’s leading AI powerhouse, building a full-stack AI ecosystem—from chips (Ascend series) to data centers, software (CANN), and industry-specific models (Pangu)—despite years of U.S. sanctions and blacklisting.
Once a telecom upstart, Huawei leveraged setbacks to expand into sectors like smart cars, operating systems, semiconductors, and AI infrastructure, now rivaling Nvidia with innovations like the CloudMatrix 384, reportedly outperforming Nvidia’s GB200 system on some metrics.
Backed by the state and open-sourcing its Pangu models, Huawei is pushing its “Ascend ecosystem strategy” across Belt and Road countries, aiming for global AI influence through replication of its industrial solutions in sectors like mining, healthcare, and government.
